How communication makes or mar people

                                                                 COMMUNICATION

Over time, people have begun to see why communication is very crucial in day-to-day activities.

I have discovered that there is a difference between COMMUNICATION and COMMUNICATION SKILLS.

Communication is the art of passing information or a message to a person, place or animal, WHILE Communication skills involve the ability to pass information in the most effective way suitable for the type of message you intend passing across.

You might have the right message but pass it in a wrong way, and this way, communication can mar you, because you might be misunderstood, but if you have the right message and you pass it in the correct manner, communication can make you!

But, how can you learn communication and become good at it? I have the answer! I bet you will understand communication more after this.

As a communication expert in the making, I can say that there are 7 major areas of communication that every person should be skillful with, in order to become successful. They include:

  • Verbal Communication:
This is the skill of  passing message via spoken words. A good communicator must be skillful in articulating his/her message in the best way. This involves accurate pronunciation and enunciation.

  • Non-Verbal Communication:
This is the skill of passing information without speaking. This involves using body language, emotions, gestures and body movements to pass a message perfectly.

  • Public Speaking:
This is the skill of being able to speak among a crowd of people and pass a message effectively in a bold and confident manner without having to deal with stage fright.

  • Interpersonal Communication:
This is the skill of being able to relate with people on a one-to-one level, without feeling uncomfortable or uneasy.

  • Workplace/Professional Communication:
This is the skill with which you relate in a professional, corporate and business environment. This means you can pass message across in an official environment without being informal at all.

  • Emotional Intelligence:
This skill enables you to identify, interpret and manage your emotions and that of others at every point. This means you can control your feelings and also relate to others properly after interpreting their emotions.

  • Active Listening:
This involves being able to hear people and also take note of their body language as they pass a message without interrupting or deflecting.

For everyone who seeks to be successful in their field, THIS IS THE SECTRET! You will be perceived as an expert in your field, sooner or later.

So, I want you to evaluate yourself and see which of these skills you need to work on...
Also, which of these skills do you have? Kindly drop your comments, stating the skills you possess already.
